Forever Homes - Are You Ready for Your Future (Part 2)

Forever home modifications take planning and can include a range of solutions.

While customized “living in place” updates should be considered for both inside and outside the home, the most common interior ones address widening hallways, doors, improved lighting, non-slip flooring, single-floor living, and handrail support – particularly in bathrooms and kitchen areas.

Many of these updates relate to mobility especially as we age. But younger people can experience accidents and challenges while recovering from illnesses. And let’s not forget the size of baby strollers as we try to squeeze them past standard doorways! So committing to creating a truly forever home is a win for everyone, regardless of age!

Here are some signs that your home may need updating before it can become “forever”:

  1. The house looks and feels “dated” – like you are living in a past time era!

  2. Your appliances are reaching their “expiration date”.

  3. You no longer want to or are reluctant to entertain family or friends (of course, we are all reluctant due to the pandemic– but hopefully, this will change in the near future)

  4. Your family has expanded, will grow in the near future or you are now empty-nesters.

  5. You are committed to not moving anytime in the future.
